Session types, scheduling, my process and more
What areas do you service?
Primarily Charlottesville and surrounding cities (including Richmond), however, I also book a limited number of sessions in my hometown of Roanoke. Album Design services are offered to anyone, anywhere. What types of photography sessions/services do you offer? I specialize in family photography, which includes maternity sessions, newborn sessions, and extended-family sessions. I also offer family film sessions and professional album design. Does my session/booking fee include digital files?
No. Your session fee covers my time and talent. Print art and full-resolution digitals will be purchased once your photos have been edited. How long will it take for you to edit my photos? I give myself a deadline of two weeks to prepare your final images. In some cases, though, I have them ready in a week or less! It just depends on my workload at the time. How will I view my final images? One of two ways: We can schedule an in-person meeting (I call this a “reveal session”), where I can personally guide you through selection and print art ordering. This can also been done on Zoom. The second option is through an online proofing gallery. How would you describe your photography style?
I focus on documenting real emotion between you and your loved ones. This involves little to no posing (nothing that you would find in traditional studio photography). Instead, I may offer prompts such as playing, tickling, whispering something sweet or funny to each other or giving a bear hug — anything that will encourage real emotion or tell your story. I find these moments to be my clients' favorites — and mine! My editing style is bold and emotional, but true to your natural skin tone. Unlike many of today's "light and airy" photographers, I'm not afraid of color! In addition, I only photograph using natural light. For an at-home session, this means taking advantage of all the window light; for an outdoors session, using the beautiful glow of sunrise and sunset ("golden hour" light). |
When is the best time to do maternity photos?
Typically within two months of your due date. Booking, however, should be done 2-4 months before the session takes place. When is the best time to do newborn photos?
Fresh 48 sessions should occur within 48 hours of your baby's birth, while you are still at the hospital/place of birth. At-home newborn sessions take place within two weeks of birth. Booking, however, should be done 2-4 months before the session takes place. What is a Fresh 48 newborn session? This special session documents your newborn at the hospital, within 48 hours of their birth, during the day. It aims to capture all of their sweet, tiny features and some of your first moments as a family. Your baby will start changing before you know it, making this session so meaningful. Do you offer mini sessions?
No. There are so many benefits to a full session that I do not offer condensed sessions at this time. I do, at times, host special Portrait Events — be sure to sign up for emails or follow me on Instagram to be notified of these. Do you photograph weddings? No, but I do design heirloom wedding albums! Please reach out if your wedding images are still hanging out digitally, so we can create the custom album of your dreams! How far do you travel?
I am based out of Charlottesville, Virginia, and will travel up to 30 minutes to our session location. I also take on a small number of clients from Roanoke, Virginia — if you are located in the Roanoke area, please book as soon as possible! If you live farther, but love what I do (especially family films), please reach out — sometimes scheduling does work out! Will you help me plan my session? Absolutely! I am always available to answer questions, address concerns, help with outfit planning, location decisions and more! I take pride in not only being your photographer, but a valuable resource every step of the way. |
