Before I met with Amy and Lindsay, I asked them to think of a few items that would help tell the story of their decade-long friendship. The pair met in a high school drama class, where they’d often volunteer to “organize” the costume room (a.k.a. try on all the outfits).
When they pulled up to our shoot with multiple bags in tow, I knew I was in for something good, something thoughtful. I was right. After lots of back-and-forth texts, Amy and Lindsay came up with flower crowns (beautifully handmade by Lindsay), a little pink key and glittery mouse ears. When I look through their images, I see how each of these items reflects a different stage in their friendship. In the crowns, I hear an echo of their drama class days. In the key, I imagine all the memories created in their post-college house. And in the bride-and-bridesmaid mouse ears that Amy brought back from Disney Land, I see the next big moment in their friendship — the unforgettable memory of watching your best friend become someone’s wife.
