![]() Molly and Bea have one of the most comfortable mother-daughter relationships I’ve ever seen, and I loved watching it unfurl in front my lens this weekend. They get each other. They love each other’s quirks. Bea isn’t shy about licking her mom’s cheek and letting her know she tastes like Dr Pepper. It's that kind of bond. "Beatrice and I have been through a lot in our short time together," Molly wrote me in August. "I am quickly realizing how few photographs we have of just the two of us that I haven't taken myself. I would love to see what I think is a very unique relationship in photographs. Being a single mama to Bea is no easy task, but it is one that I take very seriously. I feel truly honored to be the mama to this very strange, smart and frustratingly strong-willed individual." These words helped me realize why I do what I do — I don’t want anyone to ever feel like something's missing when they sift through photos of their loved ones. About their location: Back in August, Molly chose Loch Haven Lake in Roanoke for their photo shoot location. She and Bea became members last summer and have been making memories there since. I love when clients choose a location that holds a little piece of their heart; it always seems to shine through their photos. Though hushed of its vibrant summer activity (and most of the lake water, actually), Loch Haven was the perfect place for our session. The surrounding late-fall foliage and setting sun gave us the most beautiful backdrop, and the evening wind — although chilly — danced effortlessly through Molly and Bea’s golden hair. (I’m getting very poetic here, I know, but these gorgeous photos deserve equally gorgeous words.)
