Half the fun of a big event is getting ready, right? Maternity sessions kind of work the same way. Whether it's your first child or your third, your world is about to change drastically. Taking the time to appreciate and document that "before" time is just so special — and it's amazing what slowing down and preparing yourself can do for your mental well-being. I'm so thankful for all these beautiful families who saw the importance of preserving this season of life! The sunset couldn't have been more perfect for Ashley and Patrick's Roanoke Mountain maternity session. See more highlights here. My sister-in-law completely rocked her session at Smith Mountain Lake! See all the highlights here. Jessica and Josh had a stunning and fun maternity session on Roanoke Mountain. It was the perfect backdrop for a pre-baby slow dance! Catch more highlights here. I have photographed Zach, Heather and their son Harrison for a few years now, so it was such an honor documenting this next big chapter in their lives — baby number two! See more from their family maternity session here. The leaves were totally showing off for Megan and Brian's beautiful fall maternity session this October. See more highlights here. Hillary and Adam also had a gorgeous fall maternity session! I'm so excited to also do their Fresh 48 and at-home newborn sessions. Samantha and Blake's December maternity session was my last of 2018, but you'd never have guessed that by the weather we had — gorgeous sunset and about 60 degrees!
