For most people, the thought of taking photos on a completely overcast day just feels ... wrong. But for photographers, it's the secret ingredient for beautiful, rich photos. Of course I still love my dreamy golden-hours, but when they're not in the forecast, overcast is the next best thing. On the day of my session with the Via family, there was no glowy sunset in sight. But when Janice asked me if we should reschedule, I encouraged her to stick to our plan — and she and I are both so happy we did! Not only was the overcast light perfect, but the surrounding trees were in full fall mode (my favorite). When I look through this collection, I see so much love, movement and passion. The overcast sky provided a cozy feeling that I just don't think you get with sunny days. I loved watching Jace run around and play with his parents and his puppy. (Also, how sweet are his suspenders? They must be a trend in the baby fashion world this season!) And though there's no pretty sunset, their photos are full of warmth.
