I've had a really exciting idea rattling around in my head for almost two years, and with my baby heading off to kindergarten next month, I might actually have the time to pull it off — but I'll need your help to make it happen!
I think a lot about which family photos mean the most and why. In December 2024, I came up with an idea to help me explore this: a bite-sized podcast project chatting with people — family, friends, clients, strangers — about their favorite family photo.
That one photo you could stare at forever.
That one photo that means more as time goes on.
That one photo that has the best story behind it.
That one photo that makes you feel something (joy, nostalgia, grief).
That one photo you'd save if you only had time to grab one.
Did an image come to mind when you read those? I'd love to know! As someone who studied and practiced journalism and storytelling in college and after, a project like this feels like returning to my roots (while honoring what I'm most passionate about today).
And while there's a familiarity in it, it also feels really scary!
So if this sounds like a project you'd listen to, or if you'd ever want to share the story behind your own favorite family photo, I would love for you to reach out!
Sometimes the scariest ideas are the ones worth making real.
