2025 saw lots of LRP highlights — features in The Kindred Path Magazine, Heartful Magazine, and Feels Like Family; attending my first styled shoot event; traveling to Ireland; and making it onto the final ballot of Best of Cville — but my favorite accomplishment by far was creating On Film, With Love.
This film-only portrait event, held at my home here in Charlottesville, sought to strip family relationships down to their most essential components: love, tenderness, and joy. My goal was to create a space where everyone felt free to be themselves, to show love as loudly or as tenderly as they wanted, and to walk away understanding that the best photos come from simply being together.
For this first round (yes, there will be more in 2026!), I hosted three amazing families, with kids ranging from 1 to 13 years old. Held on my back deck using a simple painter's canvas backdrop, I ended each session feeling so creatively fueled! A large part of that feeling comes from shooting solely on film, which for me, is the beating heart of sincere family photography.
As always, getting the film scans back felt like Christmas morning. I'm forever in love with the colors, highlights, texture, and pop that only film can produce. Emotions feel tangible, the memories instantly become nostalgic, and even the imperfect frames feel just right.
Enjoy these favorite moments from the inaugural On Film, With Love — and please join me Saturday, March 28 for the next one! Spots are even more limited this time around, so please reserve now.
